Multiverse School Newsletter - 03/17
🚀 3/17/24 Multiverse School Weekly Newsletter 🚀
Hey Multiverse Crew,
Blessed Ostara and Rammadan Mubarak, and in one week it's Holi and Purim. It's the first week of Spring, and the Spring Equinox! Last week we shipped quite a bit as a crew, this week is the week of rest. Or rather, as it is early Spring, it is the week of doing your own fugue states on your own time because The Multiverse School has switched to it's monthly 1-week break schedule. There'll continue to be one week off a month in order to prevent burnout from all parties.
I'm traveling through the bay area, right now heading to a family thing in LA but will be in SF Tuesday - Saturday, email me back for an invite to some event on Wed-Sat.
Call your reps about The Tiktok Ban, because it's dumb and I also need TikTok to keep my small business going.
Also, you can now log in to The Multiverse School.. Also we have again updated the Programs page, and there is a chat server .
Next Next Week's Classes Begin the 9-month Prompt Engineering Track
On 3.27.24 we're running a class on Using Large Language Models and it's part of this Generative AI track. We'll add a bit to it based on Gen AI Art soon. It's also part of this broader Prompt Engineering track, which goes from 3.27 - 11.21 (yes, it is 9 months of material). It runs nights and weekends. I ran this last year so some further-out dates are subject to change as the singularity approaches and technological advancements rapidly shift under our feet. Some principles remain the same, and I think I have them down as a series of tools we can use.
Don't worry if you miss anything, it will be recorded and you can catch up, if you miss a bit talk to me about what you actually need to watch to catch up on and what you can learn out-of-sequence
Talk to jordan@themultiverse.school about attending the first session free.
Job Search Standup
We're out this week! If you bought a ticket it's good for the next time it runs, which is next nect week.
Let me know here if you got a job, it helps me out and makes me want to keep doing this.Â
Program Updates
You can register and pay for for upcoming classes, and there's a dashboard where you can manage and see your registrations and what you've paid for. Head to the Tracks page, and click on any class to register. I also have a monthly option that allows you to take any classes to kind of put a cap on the amount of money any person would spend per month on classes. If you really just want the one class you can now just buy that, even if the class takes several weeks or months to complete. The classes are paced so that you can focus, or you can just spend time at the multiverse school kind of absorbing all there is to absorb, take speculative or in-development classes, attend random lectures by guest lecturers, etc. It's a very comprehensive program that you can't completely keep up with even if you attend full time- ask anyone who's trying to do that, it's literally impossible.
To interview for and get guidance on what classes to take, reach out to either tag@themultiverse.school or jordan@themultiverse.school

Learn to Code Bootcamp This Summer, Begins June 3rd
Here's the Learn to Code bootcamp. This will be a more structured, code-together program, so if you're looking for that, come hang out.
Artificial Intelligence and Agents (Tracks Available)
Here's the entire track. You will need to know how to code. If you want to know all of this and you don't know how to code, enroll in the Learn to Code Bootcamp as well. If you're going to take all of these classes you may as well sign up for the monthly membership.
This is the part of the track you don't need to learn to code for. We'll probably add more here soon about how to use low-code no-code things.
Complex Adaptive Systems and Game Theory
The First Episode is Live The Second Episode is Live! It's a lot of me talking this time, it's sort of the pre-reading and introduction to the next set of readings.
Readings for next next week's recording: Chapter 5 of Plato: Team Reasoning and Conditional Games Part 2 of Finite and Infinite Games (No One Can Play Alone), pages 42-72 in the pdf
Storytelling is becoming NarrativeCraft
Storytelling is morphing into a new kind of thing. Many of you are working on your own personal narrative, and creating algorithms for both Gen AI and your own mind that will cue you to live in the story that you write, instead of the story others are writing for you. The goal of this next series (beginning March 27th, and now on Wednesdays) will be to craft, then step into your own Heroic Epic. This is in tandem with The Midnight Scholar Society, a new school Francina has begun! The Multiverse School incubates schools, and Francina's program is a school that's budding off of The Multiverse. Multiverse Travelers get access to The Midnight Scholar Society for free for this reason, but not for forever, so sign up now and be part of the inaugural scene.
Junior & Senior Devs:
This week we worked on the Agent Chatroom project. It's being chronicled on this page in order. It's up at https://chat.themultiverse.school:3535.
We worked on Observability this week, and how to use ChatGPT as Your DevOps Friend Who Knows How Everything Works. We integrated PM2 and now we have the chat server monitored and it alerts us when it's down. We also implemented Eventual Consistency between our server and the database, ensuring finite writes and reads. When we return,
When we return:
We'll talk about how to harden and defend the server, things we might want to do to improve it, and start using it for real, and keeping our bots up. We'll do the Paradigmatic task of defining the minimum requirements for bots by doing some red-teaming and catastrophizing (which isn't always bad! haha) I'll sponsor the OpenAI tokens for the bots we collectively decide to merge to main. I'll give students who have developed an agent access to the server and monitor their bot (after I make an image so we can revert things if someone breaks something). If you haven't turned in an agent as a PR, no access for you until you do!
