Can't afford it?

Apply for a scholarship. We say yes. You don't need to give us a compelling reason. Just ask. Learning to code and finding work shouldn't depend on whether you have money right now.

Questions

Is this a nonprofit?

Nah- The Multiverse School is a single-member LLC. It's one person's life's work, not an institution. That means low overhead, and almost no accountability to the government. Also, a healthy dose of anarchy. The money goes to Liz who posts about how they use it on the internet. What you see is what you get. We'll move to a co-op model once enough people are dedicated enough and stick around long enough that the school becomes dependent on them. Could that be you? Who knows.

What does "pay what you can" mean?

Each tier has a suggested price and a minimum. You pick any amount at or above the minimum. If you can pay more, your extra supports someone who can't. From each according to their ability, to each according to their need. We think we read that somewhere.

Can I change my tier?

Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade anytime. If you need to pause, just let us know. If you need to pause paying but don't want to stop coming, tell us. Don't break your flow.

What if I really can't afford the minimum?

Apply for a scholarship — we say yes. The community tier is free for anyone who asks. Sometimes you have to wait a few weeks.

What do I get at the Community tier?

Access to Shipping Software — daily standups for job search and coding, a mutual aid coordinator, the Matrix campus, and community channels.

What's the mutual aid coordinator?

A paid social worker with an MSW who helps students with housing, food access, emergency funds, childcare, transportation, and other barriers. Not a volunteer channel — a real person doing real social work.
