🛸 10/13/2024 Multiverse School Weekly Newsletter 🛸

Hey Multiverse Crew-

Ok, the changes that are coming to the programs are hammered out, and we're ready to announce them! It's gonna blow minds.

Largely this is driven by what I've seen is an increased community need for emotional support around the whirlwind changes introduced by AI, a lower barrier to entry for non-coders, and a number of people whose path isn't taking them towards the job title "prompt engineer". All of which I can't provide as a single person! So, I am changing things up a bit.

I've been working with other science educators and technical contributors for a bit, but lately I have wanted to expand class offerings based on what you've been asking for and that's meant bringing in other expertise, who I trust based on knowing them and their experience. It's been hard to find people who are values-aligned, emotionally intelligent, and prove themselves capable of consistency. People whose insights and future vision are far afield, like mine. Radical educators who just want people to be ok, but who also want to hustle to grow the scene we're building here.

So without further ado, here's the announcement! We're bringing Surviving The Singularity into The Multiverse! You might know him from TikTok. He's bringing his unique take, and his calm demeanor, to our little group. Chris will be running AI & Coffee at 8am Pacific Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, where he'll cover AI news, and create space for folks to emotionally process what's happening in the world. In the evening he'll run Intro to AI, at 5pm Pacific. You can join any week for any number of weeks. If you're a member, researcher, or are enrolled in any multi-week class, Chris's classes are included. The AI & Coffee hour is intended to give our whole community space to chat about the news, impact, and media narratives around AI, so drop in if you're in any way a recurring character.

We've also brought in JKL (from the podcast!) to help teach Coding with AI which will focus entirely on how to use AI, Integrated Development Environments, and code together effectively. He'll transform your whole workflow in a short 90-minute session. John's been a radical educator and is stepping back into the world of teaching after a hiatus. I'm excited, John is a fun character with good thinky bits so I'm sure this class will be great.
